Funded by NYU Shanghai Dean’s Undergraduate Research Fund, this project, “Application of Topological Shapes in Virtual Reality”, visualized two topological shapes, Mobius strip and Klein bottle, in a virtual reality environment. By creating an interactive animation to highlight the structural uniqueness of their one-sided surface, users can walk on these shapes and be followed back to their starting point while upside down. This project tried out to link mathematics, art and programming and created future possibilities for more fusion between different subjects and fields. (C#, Unity3D)
